M Sarki is a native of northern Michigan. Born in 1953 of Finnish heritage, Sarki learned the trade of carpentry and worked extensively in Michigan, Alaska, Oregon, and Florida before settling in Kentucky. Since 1995 Sarki has written poems under the tutelage and editing of the infamous Gordon Lish and has been published extensively in journals such as Unsaid, elimae, NY Tyrant, New Orleans Review, South Atlantic Quarterly, and many others.
