Dilip Sarkar is a retired deep wreck diver who has dived the German naval wrecks at Orkney on several occasions. He has written thirty history books on aspects of the Second World War, specialising in the human experience. He was made an MBE for services to aviation history in 2003, and elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Historical Society in 2006.
