Giulio Saggin was born in Rome, Italy, in 1968 to Australian parents travelling through Europe doing the '60s thing. He, and his family, returned to Australia and Brisbane in 1974. His childhood and formative years were spent in Brisbane and, after graduating from high school in 1985, he spent the following year working an assortment of part-time jobs. It was during this year he started taking photos and spent 1987-88 studying photography at the Queensland College of Art.
