Isidra Sabio was born in the Garifuna community of Cristales in Trujillo, Honduras. She attended world renowned Zamorano Agricultural Panamerican University, becoming the first Black woman to graduate from this prestigious university. Currently, she is a research scientist at a University in New York City. She obtained her Master in Science from Louisiana State University. After graduating, she returned to Honduras and worked for the United Nations in Malaria control and research for 3 years.
