Ryan, Allyn C.

1. Biography: Allyn Cauagas Ryan was born in the Philippines and came to the United States in 1957 as a foreign student. She attended UCLA and received a BA in English and an MFA in Theater and Film. At UCLA one of her short stories, A Trip to Manila, was ranked with the finalists in the Samuel Goldwyn Creative Writing Contest. Other stories appeared in Westwind and The Uclan Review (both UCLA journals). A one-act play, The Earth Is a Silver Peso, was produced by the 3K7 Theater on campus.
