Robert Rubin, US Treasury Secretary from 1995-1999, spent 26 years at Goldman Sachs before entering the public sector. From 1993 to 1995, Rubin served as Director of the National Economic Council As Treasury Secretary, he was a central figure in balancing the federal budget; preventing financial crises in Mexico and Asia from spreading into global financial catastrophes; helping resolve the government shut-downs in 1995; and instituting reforms at the IRS.
