Richard Wilmer Rowan lived and breathed the study of espionage. In addition to The Story of Secret Service, he also published numerous other non-fiction books on espionage including: Spy and Counter-Spy (1928), Modern Spies Tell Their Stories (1934), Spy Secrets (1946), and Cuba: The Big Red Lie (1963). In addition to attending Brown and Columbia Universities, Rowan served during World War I in the U.S. Army Chemical Warfare Service. Rahima Schwenkbeck is a PhD candidate at The George Washington University, researching the intersection of business and utopia.
