Rose, Sarina

Sarina Rose was born to first generation Italian-American parents in New Jersey. Her childhood memories of living in the four family apartment house with extended family decorate her books. Two cousins and two uncles were drafted and served in Europe and Japan. One cousin was killed in France. The families took their meals together and she wandered through the apartments at will. She attended Fairview elementary and junior high and Cliffside Park High Schol. "I learned to use the public library very young. My mother was a great fiction reader.
