Dr. Salvatore Riggio was born at home in St. Louis, Missouri in 1927. His parents were both Sicilian immigrants who came to St. Louis from separate routes: His father Silvestro came up north from New Orleans and his mother Frances came west from New York City. Dr. Riggio was an only child who attended Christian Brothers College prepatory high school and then attended the St. Louis University School of Medicine. After his internship at St. Louis County Hospital pediatric residency at St. Louis University Hospital, in 1954 he and his wife Geraldine and their newborn son Jim moved to Edwards Air
