Clapham Murray, known as Cope, was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised on a farm in West River, south of Annapolis. He attended Gilman School in Baltimore, received a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a Masters from Emerson College in Boston. He was a Professor of Theatre Arts at New England College, both in New Hampshire and in Sussex, England and is presently Professor-Emeritus. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and of Actors Equity. He is a long time member of The Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, New Hampshire where he presently lives with his wife Priscilla.
