Reverend Edgar Cannon Prettyman (1884-1972) was a Methodist Preacher who preached with "a tart tongue but twinkling eye." He spent 35 years of his life compiling the history of the Prettyman family and other related families. His book 'The Prettyman Family in England and America 1361-1968, was the first book to attempt to document the complete family history. Rev. Prettyman, himself, was also a pioneer who worked with both sides of the prohibition to provide "a practical program of eradicating liquor abuses'. He became friends of both the 'wets' and 'drys'.
