Pomeroy's entire career was spent with the U.S. Forest Service. Of his varied postitions the most meaningful was the two years he spent as the founding director of a Job Corps Center, a part of the War on Poverty of the 60's. After retiring, he spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic and three years at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA where he earned his M.A. degree in Systematic Theology.
