Mark R. Pogrebin is a Professor and Director of Criminal Justice in the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado at Denver. He has conducted numerous field studies in the areas of police undercover work, tragic events, Afro-American policewomen, emotion management, women jailers, psychotherapists' deviant behavior with clients, women in prison and on parole, and the strategic uses of humor among police. He has published three books and numerous journal articles and has had over twenty of his publications reprinted in anthologies.
