Born in 1946, second in a family of six children, in the then sleepy Southern town of Washington, D.C., where secretaries wore white gloves and hats when going to lunch. This, just before the migration of workers from the south expanded government offices. Michael's father's business would take him as a helper into many government buildings, agencies and international Embassy's where, as a curious adolescent, he would glean all he could from the desks of Ed Murrow, U.S.I.A. Radio Free Europe propaganda, many embassy's and the private homes of George Will, Walter Lipmann, Ray Chalk and others.
