Barbara L. Daniels Phillips was born three miles north of Kinsley, KS on her grandparent's farm on a snowy January day. Her great-grandparents journeyed across the prairie in 1876 on the Santa Fe Trail. They homesteaded north of Kinsley, KS. During her childhood she lived in various towns in Kansas. Barbara attended schools in Kansas. She has a BA in Education from Fort Hays Kansas State University and a MA in Language Arts from Wichita State University.
