Peters, Barbara Lynette

Barbara Lynette Peters was born in Miami Beach, Florida. She is the fourth daughter of Hiawatha and Minnie Hilliard. She and her siblings-including their only brother--grew up in Liberty City, a neighborhood within the City of Miami. Her life was greatly impacted by the family's involvement in their local church, and by five years of attendance at public school on Miami Beach. She credits her dad with developing her love for books at an early age; and her mom with planting the seeds of compassion for others.
