Tavetta Patterson became a published writer in 1997; while she was in high school. She was entered into a poetry contest by her high school English Teacher and winning that contest helped launch her writing career. Her winning poem and a series of journal entries became a part of her first book entitled, "The Tongue of Life" which was published in 2002. She wrote, recorded and released a spoken word CD entitled, "The Word Shop" in 2003. During 2004 she used her gift of writing to teach women at a local shelter how to find their voice and share their experiences through creative writing classes...
