Robert Parkin is a Departmental Lecturer in Social Anthropology in the University of Oxford and was Writer-in-Residence at the Institute of Anthropology, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in the summer of 2006. He has also taught at the University of Kent at Canterbury, Oxford Brookes University and the Free University of Berlin. His main thematic interests are in kinship, religion and symbolism, ethnicity, nationalism and regional identity, the history of French anthropology, on all of which he has published extensively.
