Valerie Pang is a professor of teacher education at San Diego State University. Page earned a doctorate at the University of Washington in 1981. She was a Spence Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow and studied achievement and test anxiety in Asian American students from 1987-1989. She is presently a senior fellow at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, holding an academic appointment to Brown University. In the summer of 1996 Pang was an invited scholar at the University of Washington's Center for Multicultural Education and taught a class on Asian American children. In 1999 Pang was honored
