Palmer, Pete

Pete Palmer is the coauthor of The Hidden Game of Baseball and coeditor of the ESPN Baseball Encyclopedia and ESPN Football Encyclopedia. He introduced on-base average as an official statistic for the American League and invented on-base plus slugging (OPS), now universally used as a good measure of batting strength. He lives in Hollis, New Hampshire.
