Born in Newark, New Jersey Racquel Cruz has been sharing her passion of art, music and poetry since a young age. Thankful, her gifts were given to her by her parents and grandmother. She discovered the joy she received from poetry, mostly from the works of Shel Silverstein. He wrote poetry in such a way it gave her a seed of hope while going through dark times as a child. Not only did Shel's writing help maintain her childhood innocence, it was different. It taught her to believe her way of thinking was okay.
