Lionel H. Opie, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor of Medicine at the University of Cape Town and Visiting Professor, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Stanford University Medical Center, California. After graduating from the University of Cape Town, he studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and was a Research Fellow at Harvard from 1959-1961.
