Holly O'Brien's strong ties to New York State, and her experience with children both as a parent and as a teacher, give her a perspective well suited to writing this historic, inspirational novel for children. She was born in Syracuse, New York in 1953, while her father, a veteran of WWII, was a student at Syracuse University.
