Colonel Gerald W.L. Nicholson (1920-1980) served with the Prince Albert Volunteers and worked for the Historical Section of the Canadian Military, with appointments in London and Ottawa, from 1943 until his retirement in 1961. He is the author of Marlborough and the War of the Spanish Succession and The Canadians in Italy, 1943-1945 and Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1914-1919, which are part of the Official History of the Canadian Army.
