Radine Trees Nehring's career as a writer began in 1986 when her many magazine and newspaper features about the Arkansas Ozarks began appearing in the United States and abroad. For ten years she also researched, wrote, and hosted a weekly radio program, Arkansas Corner Community News. Her first book, Dear Earth: A Love Letter from Spring Hollow, earned the Arkansas Governor's Award for Best Writing About the State, among other honors.
