ABOUT THE PIONEERS TEAM AND SPONSORS Charles A. Birnbaum, FASLA, National Park Service Historic Landscape Initiative and Robin Karson, executive director, Library of American Landscape History, served as project editors. Birnbaum, along with Catha Grace Rambusch, director, Catalog of Landscape Records in the United States at Wave Hill, conceived of this expansive project over a decade ago.
