Lawrence was born in Northern New York the oldest son of Lawrence W. Nason Sr. and Dorlene Reyome. A short story he had written for English class was published in a Northern New York Literary magazine when he was 16. He had always thought about becoming a writer as a child but as the reality of life caught up with him, he started looking for ways to break out of the cycle of life many families were caught in during the early eighties.
