About the Author I began my mountaineering career shortly after I completed my service in the U.S Marine Corps in 1971. I discovered rock climbing in 1972 and continued this activity till 2012, even though I will strap on a pair of shoes and pop a route, occasionally. During my 35 years of climbing I have climb many routes in North America. My hardest lead, Untickable, 5.12a on Suicide in Idyllwild. I have about 30 first ascents in Joshua Tree.
