Mervyn Morris was born in Jamaica in 1937. He is reader in West Indian Literature at UWI. He co-edited "Jamaica Woman" (1980) and "Voiceprint" (1989), and he edited "The Faber Book of Contemporary Caribbean Short Stories" (1990). He worked with Michael Smith on "It a Come" just before Smith was murdered. His own collections of poetry include "The Pond and Shadow Boxing" (1973), "On Holy Week" (1988), and "Examination Centre" (1995).
