CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON (1834-1892) was born in Kelvedon, England. He began to preach in Cambridgeshire but soon was invited to a large church in London called Park Street Baptist. A much larger building was needed and the Metropolitan Tabernacle was built in 1861. He became a very well-known preacher and is regarded as the "Prince of Preachers." THOMAS DE WITT TALMAGE (1832-1902) was born in Bound Brook, New Jersey. He received his education at New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
