Joseph Montgomery was raised in Kentucky where he was home-schooled by his parents, going on to complete his Bachelor of the Arts in creative writing at Eastern Kentucky University. In the small town of Berea Kentucky Life offered him his first insights into himself. Pushed by a deep depression and a poetic Heart, he delved into two years living in Ashrams of New Zealand and India, which developed in him the infancy of his spiritual personality and a need for Creativity, Poetry in this case, as a faucet for spiritual yearning.
