Michael Monhollon took out a semester in college to write science fiction stories and collect rejection slips. His first book sale, a legal thriller, came at the age of 31 at about the time The Firm was coming out in paperback. Its sales fell short of The Firm's, though, and he continues to work for a living. For a dozen years he practiced law. Currently, he is the dean of the Kelley College of Business at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
