An archaeologist by training (and inclination!), I spent many years abroad with my ex-husband and worked in the State Planning Organisation in Ankara, Turkey; moved to Ohio, USA where I taught evening classes in the winters and returned to Turkey to excavate with the British Institute of Archaeology in the summers; moved to Shiraz, Iran, where I taught archaeology and ancient Middle Eastern history in the university; moved back to the UK, where I became Museums Curator of a museums service (nine museums in all) in North East Scotland.
