Martha Moffett was born at the end of a dirt road in St. Clair County, Alabama, was a student in Hudson Strode's writing class at the university, worked in publishing in New York City, and raised three children who regarded Central Park as their backyard. Later she lived in Lake Worth, Florida, which she describes as the Greenwich Village of Palm Beach County. She has written in several forms--children's books, novels, plays, and short stories and essays. Awards: Florida State Council on the Arts and a Yaddo fellowship.
