Tony Mitchell is a senior lecturer in Writing and Cultural Studies at the University of Technology, Sydney. He was born in New Zealand, and received a PhD in Drama from Bristol University in 1976. He lived in Rome from 1978 to 1983 and was a correspondent on Italian theatre and cinema for Plays and Players and Sight and Sound, among other publications. His biography of the Italian practitioner "Dario Fo: People's Court Jester", first appeared in 1984.
