Following his military service, C.G. Mitchell entered into a business venture which took place on Plum Street, Detroit's answer to San Francisco's Haight Ashbury. Over the two years he spent there he managed to open and operate a total of five different businesses which gave him an excellent insight into events associated with the street as well as the movement related to the late 1960's to early 1970's.
