Among his many accomplishments Minges was appointed by Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. of North Carolina to serve on the Governor's Crime Commission which helped distribute federal funds to law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Minges also was appointed to serve as Co-Chair for The Disaster Response and Recovery Commission, a legislative study commission that examined the state's preparedness after the Hurricane Floyd disaster. Minges has worked closely with law enforcement throughout his twenty-five plus years of service on the Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.
