Bear Mills has a master's degree in history and is a James Madison Fellow and Fulbright Teacher Scholar. A former Texas Teacher of the Year, he is an avid traveler and writer. Prior to becoming an educator, Mills was a journalist, filing stories from across the vast stretches of West Texas and the wilds of South America. He was one of the first US citizens to visit Paraguay after the fall of Stroessner. In addition, he has filed stories from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Panama.
