The book started as a series of postcards Rick Taft made and sent to cheer a youngster who had cancer. Later, he was encouraged to use the cards in a children's book so he recruited two of his sisters to help. Rick is a retired research and development machinist who worked mostly in the medical field. He could build complex devices with only a verbal description of what was needed. He is proud of the many advances he helped bring to market in the medical field.
