Not to be confused with H.C. Morrison the founder of Asbury Theological Seminary, Bishop H.C. Morrison (1842-1921) was a pastor and bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Born in Tennessee, he served as a chaplain in the Confederate Army during the U.S. Civil War with the 8th Kentucky regiment before becoming a circuit rider in Kentucky. He continued his ministry as a pastor in Tennessee before moving to the North Georgia Conference, ultimately serving for four years as the pastor of First Church in Atlanta. In 1890 the General Conference named him one of three Missionary Secretaries
