Raised on the New Jersey shore, Gail Dawson McNally went on to Centenary College for Women in Hackettstown. After graduation, she joined the CIA and following training in Washington, DC, began working for the Agency in the Republic of Panama. There she spent 25 years, married the admiral's aide, raised five children, and worked in several commercial ventures.
