McMacken, David C.

David McMacken is regarded by mid-Michigan residents as the first person to contact with any questions about the area's past. He spent 40 years as an educator with Alma High School and for 34 consecutive years he has been a speaker in Gratiot County's summertime "Evening in the Park" series. He is the author of nine books, including Built on Pines: The Story of Ammi Willard Wright, which documents the life of the man who gave the campus the first two buildings of what is now Alma College. McMacken earned his BA and MA degrees from Central Michigan University.
