George E. McCarthy is National Endowment for the Humanities Professor of Sociology at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. His books include Romancing Antiquity: German Critique of the Enlightenment from Weber to Habermas, Dialectics and Decadence: Echoes of Antiquity in Marx and Nietzsche, and Marx and Aristotle: Nineteenth-Century German Social Theory and Classical Antiquity.
