Mekeel McBride was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1950 to an engineer (former sculptor of religious statues for major Catholic churches worldwide) and a housewife (former assistant Dean at the University of Pittsburgh). She is the author of six books of poetry from Carnegie-Mellon all contained in Dog Star Delicatessen: New and Selected. At present, she is a full professor at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches creative writing workshops.
