After Rocky McAlister shed his police reporter's bow tie and corduroy coat ("I was going for a look, but missed.") and he traveled 100 miles east and 7,000 feet up to Big Bear where he now observes the human condition. Surrounded by tall pines, rugged mountains and blue lakes, he does not ski, fish, boat or hike and no longer owns a suit. "Up here, formal attire is wearing suspenders that match your socks."
