I'm a West Coast guy. I've tried living away from the coast but it just doesn't work for me. I built a sailboat and lived aboard in the area that this story takes place. The wonderful Gulf Islands of British Columbia. During my time as a sailor and boat builder, I learned all about the difficulties in trying to go offshore sailing.
