Mateer, John

John Mateer was born in South Africa. He currently lives in Australia where he has published five books of poems and a travelogue about Indonesia. He has made it his practice to publish outside of the usual circulation of English-language literature, often having the initial publication of his work issued by small publishers in Johannesburg, Kyoto, Perth or Sumatra. Selections of his poems have been translated into Japanese, Indonesian, Portuguese and German.
