Howard Manns is lecturer in Linguistics at Monash University where he serves on the Executive Committee of the Language and Society Centre. Before working at Monash, Howard worked as a specialist in Iranian languages and cultures for the US Navy, taught English in Indonesia and lived, travelled and/or worked in more than sixty countries on six of the world's seven continents.
