The author is married and lives with his wife Anita in the semi-rural village of Wormer just north of Amsterdam. He has three children and four grand children. Growing up in a family with five boys, his father worked in a paper mill, the core of their village. After high school and a time working for the Government, he joined the Amsterdam police rising to the rank of superintendent.
