Ruth Doan MacDougall was born and grew up in Laconia, NH, the inspiration for the "Gunthwaite, NH," in THE CHEERLEADER and SNOWY. She now lives in Center Sandwich, NH, with her husband, Don.She is the author of ten novels and co-author of 50 HIKES IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS and 50 MORE HIKES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.
